Guardians Of Natural ChildbirthAbout Art Deco Midwives
Meet Liz and Judy
Congratulations on your pregnancy.
Pregnancy and Birth are an exciting, yet challenging life process in any woman’s life.
As an experienced midwife of over 25 interesting years of practice, I have worked alongside many women, their partners and families to ensure the process of pregnancy and birth is kept as safe as possible, with minimal intervention.
I qualified in 1990 in Dunedin as a midwife, and came to beautiful Napier in 1993. I now have 3 adult children, two of them were born at home “way back then!!!”.
I endorse women’s health issues and work alongside organisations that support families.
When not at work, you may find me fishing, gardening, tramping, biking, or off in the motor home with my husband.
I support homebirth, and also provide care in Ata Rangi and Waioha (Hawkes Bay Maternity Primary and Secondary units). I do offer a holistic midwifery approach throughout pregnancy, birth and post natally.
Nothing is more joyous to me, than to see a Mum hold her baby for the first time, and watch a family grow stronger together.
Bay Birth Care Midwives
Hi I am Elizabeth Dunn, or you can call me Liz!
I was born in Auckland New Zealand and grew up in Otago.
I have been living in Hawkes Bay since 2008.
I have a New Zealand Bachelor Degree in Midwifery and I have been a midwife for eleven years.
I am passionate about the physiology of labour and birth and aim to promote and protect normal birth. I believe birth is a normal yet significant time in a woman’s life.
I enjoy meeting the many families whose lives I come into, to support and care for them at a very special time in their lives.
I aim to provide friendly professional midwifery care throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth and the post natal period with continuity of care.
I am confident in my skills and I have wide experience in home birth and primary care settings.
I have an 85% normal birth rate which includes water birth at home, in primary birthing units and secondary care settings.
In my spare time I enjoy horse riding, photography, music, yoga, paddle boarding and enjoy spending time with my family and friends and being out in nature.
I have two sons, aged 20 and 17. We have a Burmese cat and two dogs, and two horses, which are part of the family too!
I look forward to meeting you to discuss your midwifery care.
In all cultures, the midwife’s place is on the threshold of life, where intense human emotions, fear, hope, longing, triumph, and incredible power-enable a new human being to emerge. Her vocation is unique.
Whenever and however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, and your spirit for the rest of your life.
